Taiga Ultan is a flutist and wordsmith based in Maine.
Mentored by Tyshawn Sorey, Ultan attended the Banff Jazz and Creative Music program and studied with George Garzone as a Presidential Scholar; her principal teachers include Julietta Curenton, Jeffrey Khaner, and William Bennett. She has collaborated with members of the New York Philharmonic at Alice Tully Hall and served as research assistant to Claire Chase at Harvard, assisting in productions at Princeton, Juilliard, and Carnegie Hall. Her compositions include Abbreviated Window Seat for four flutes, premiered at Harvard, and a Concerto for Flute and Tarp, debuted at Cooper Union.
