Oren Ambarchi is an Australian multi-instrumentalist and musical polymath who has been releasing records with the frequency of someone who prefers studio time to sleep.
Ambarchi's practice mainly focuses on the exploration of the guitar. Since the 90s, Ambarchi has collaborated with artists the world over (notably with the "Ghosted" trio together with Swedish musicians Johan Berthling and Andreas Werliin, along with his ongoing trio with Keiji Haino and Jim O'Rourke). In the last few years his longform compositions have featured many friends and collaborators constituting some of his most adventurous work to date and demonstrating his slippery capacity for stylistic shapeshifting whilst retaining his singular musical language. Since 2009, Ambarchi has run Black Truffle Records, an Australian-based label for experimental, improv, noise, world and unclassifiable music, with over 150 releases to date.
